Sobyanin promises to allocate RUB 3 bln to develop Moscow metro

Additional three billion roubles will be allocated in 2011 to finance the development of the Moscow metro system, Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, said on Tuesday.

“As many as 1.5 billion roubles will be allocated to the Moscow metro to arrange construction sites for new lines and stations; another 1.2 billion roubles will be allocated to make passenger services more convenient, including the installation of ticket machines and the upgrading of the air ventilation system,” Sobyanin said at a meeting with members of the Moscow City Duma (legislature).

Earlier, Sobyanin pledged to allocate annually at least 50 billion roubles to build new metro lines and stations.
